Found your write up on the www about the Westell 6100 modem/router and how to open the ports for Echolink use. It was very detailed, direct and right to the point. Just wanted to say great work and Thanks. Ka3ysl Added: April 15, 2007 |

I have Verizon DSL with Verizon's Westell 6100 modem and , as such , no EchoLink service even though they claim that UDP ports 5198 and 5199 are open. I am otherwise OK per the EchoLink Troubleshooter Utility. Please send help if it readily available. You had a pdf a one time that was big help to one guest. Thanks, 73, W4FJR

Dave Name here is Jim Tully KD4YO. QTH is Newport News Va. I was talking to Sam KT4QW about getting on Echolink. He contacted Conrad W4RCY and Conrad sent your "How I configured my computer system" written April 28 2005. I have a Westell 6100 modem and am operating using DSL [ verizon ]. I have followed your instructions and tried to open 5198,5199,and 5200 ports. The Service Configuration page shows Echolink 1. I checked details and it shows all 3 ports. I opened define custom service, hi-lighted echolink 1 and hit the enable button. My system does not ask me to assign a computer name or static address ????? When I run the Echolink test it shows TCP test passed but the UDP failed. Any suggestions ?? If I can't get on Echolink the world will not come to the end so if you are all tied up doing other things don't sweat it. Thanks for taking the time to read this. 73 Jim KD4YO Added: August 16, 2006 |
