You know power prices have gotten pretty bad when you find yourself shopping for a CPU based on power consumption (45W versus 65W) as a primary concern, instead of the usual price vs. GHz vs. multicore madness. I even seriously considered building a 25W mini ITX system (ITX = ultra low power, no floppy connector), if not for 3D gaming and need for video power.
My freaking power bill nearly doubled this year versus same time last year, with not much increase in power usage. $340 in March, $345 in April, and I have a very small house. That could have been a new car payment! Fucking BGE. Oh well, guess I’ll be playing Call of Duty and Counter Strike with a window fan blowing instead of the air conditioner …
