Recently during a workplace meeting one of the supervisors suggested us worker bees are stuck in a rut, and even went so far as to discuss bringing in motivational speakers. Besides giving us bees a ‘WTF’ moment – I mean, really? – it did give me pause to think about things. Not some deep, inner reflection of life and all that stuff, but more like how I could mix things up a bit and gain different perspectives.
So what does this have to do with anything? Well I decided to go back and try a few things I haven’t done in a while, and one of them is Yahoo!. They really do have a good landing page with the latest news articles and useful navigation links down the comfortably familiar left sidebar. No vague “modern” color scheme or gimmicky drop-down menus to figure out. Yahoo! was doing search, directory, video, email, chat groups and so much more LONG before Google hyped similiar features. It’s a shame corporate investors (greed) made them sell their soul, remove some innovative features and turned to Microsoft for search, but in spite of this they do still have great products. If you haven’t used Yahoo! in a while give it a another try & tell what you think in the comments !
I notice during my morning commute there are so many boring cars on the road with me. Each is usually just an average sedan, SUV or crossover in white, black or gray. A few scattered reds in subdued dark shades, occasional blue or green. Few are personalized other than the odd bumper sticker or silly stick figures on the back window.

Of course I realize my car is just as boring as all the rest, perhaps even more since it is a full-size American sedan that had the same basic design for decades. My friends call it a grandpa car and they’re probably right. Yeah. Maybe I should put a sticker on it or something?
After a completely disastrous and deeply disappointing experience with Arvixe VPS web hosting service, I am set to make a move to Bluehost Pro hosting. My employer and I are depending on this to work out right, or else… It isn’t like our hosting needs are that great – WordPress, 350 MB MySQL database, about 15 email addresses, spam and antivirus filtering. Well okay the database is a little sizable but well within the 5 GB available spec’d in the Pro package (spec / mirror).

I hope to begin preparations in the coming week and have the site moved by end of this month (October 2011). I will share my experiences here, good or bad. Wish me luck!
P.S. – This is not a sponsored article so don’t expect me to sugarcoat anything; if this goes wrong I will be sure to say so.
